Beer & Bites Reunion Brings Alumni Back Together

by Davandra Earle, Communications Officer

The spirit of connection and community was alive and well last Friday night at United College during the annual Beer and Bites Reunion event. The evening brought together alumni from all generations—recent graduates, longtime supporters, board members and everyone in between—for a night of delicious food, local brews, and unforgettable memories.

Guests embarked on a casual tour across the University of Waterloo’s four affiliated colleges, sampling specially curated bites and beers along the way. Each stop offered a unique taste of campus life, culminating in a warm and vibrant gathering at United College.

The final stop of the evening was the highlight for many. As the sun dipped behind the trees, our college's new outdoor spaces came to life, laughter filling the air and many glasses were raised in celebration. Alumni mixed and mingled, shared stories from their time at the college, and reflected on how far they, and the College, have come.

Guests also couldn’t stop raving about Chef Karl’s mouthwatering lamb burgers, perfectly paired with a crisp, hoppy brew from Four Fathers Brewing Co. The delicious combo was a standout of the night and had people talking long after the event wrapped up."

Principal Rick Myers shared a few words of welcome and reflection during the evening, noting:

“Events like this remind us of the power of community, how the friendships, values, and experiences formed at United College stay with us for life. It’s inspiring to see so many of our alumni return with such fondness and pride. Events like this really shows us why United College continues to be a place where people feel at home.”

Board Chair Tracy Mann also had high praises for the event and is already looking forward to next year.

“I was struck by the diversity of people who are participating. Apparently beautiful weather, good food and some beer draws people out regardless of age and demographic so I was really impressed with the diversity here. People are wandering around and really enjoying the event and I love to see it,” Mann said.
