United College at the University of Waterloo recently held its annual Fall Open House on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, and from all reports it was a resounding success.

The Open House, which drew a diverse crowd of prospective students and their families, exceeded expectations, offering an engaging introduction to the College's unique community, residences, minor programs, and resources.

With approximately 96 tour groups in attendance, visitors had the chance to explore the College’s residences, facilities, and learn about United's dynamic Living Learning Communities. These communities, some of which operate in collaboration with the Faculty of Environment and the Faculty of Engineering, are designed to provide students from the same program or faculty with the opportunity to live together in the same residence.

Attendees also learned more about the College’s innovative programs in Human Rights and Law, and Social Innovation and Impact, which are at the forefront of interdisciplinary education.

Feedback from guests was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the welcoming atmosphere, the College’s facilities, and the overall organization of the event. Several expressed their excitement about applying to United College, impressed by the vibrant, inclusive community they encountered throughout the day.

Principal Rick Myers was equally pleased with the turnout, noting the infectious energy of the day. “It was very energizing to meet so many eager potential students and to feel their enthusiasm. And it was particularly gratifying to hear so many compliments about our facilities, our food, and of course our delightful mascot Toasty” he said.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success, and to all those who attended. United College is more than just a place to study—it's a place to grow, to lead, and to connect, and we can’t wait to continue sharing that with even more students in the future!
