Winnie Lam serves as Senior Director of Sustainability Technology at Nike. She is responsible for technology platforms to make Nike’s shoes and apparel more environmentally sustainable.
Prior to joining Nike, Winnie held various leadership roles at Google in sustainability and product management, over an 18-year tenure. She led initiatives that vastly reduced the water, chemicals and diesel fuel consumption at Google’s data centers.
She serves on the National Council of the non-profit World Wildlife Fund. She championed the banning of elephant ivory being sold through Google, as elephants are poached for their ivory tusks. She partnered with WWF to form the Global Coalition to End Wildlife Trafficking Online, uniting tech companies to end the sale of endangered wildlife products online.
Winnie stayed at St. Paul's University College (now United College) while earning her Bachelor of Applied Science in Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She received a Distinguished Alumni Award from St. Paul's University College in 2019 for “an exemplary career, dedication to sustainability and service to community". Winnie earned her Master of Science in Energy Policy and Climate from Johns Hopkins University.
