Offered every fall term.
AMATH 463/663 is an introductory course in fluid mechanics and is a continuation of the continuum mechanics course AMATH 361. The study of fluid mechanics requires a variety of mathematical techniques. We will make use of vector calculus, complex analysis and methods for solving ordinary and partial differential equations. Familiarity with these topics is essential and assumed knowledge.
AMATH 353 or PHYS 365 and AMATH 361
Fluid Mechanics (3rd Edition) by P.K. Kundu & I.M. Cohen, Academic Press, 2004.
The course web pages can be found at: http://www.student.math.uwaterloo.ca/~amat361/default.htm
* Students taking this course as a graduate course will do extra work.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
