Forty-one teams of fourth-year chemical engineering students presented the results of their Capstone Design projects at the annual Capstone Design Symposium, which was held March 12^th in the atrium of Engineering 6. In the process of sharing their research, they demonstrated the diverse and creative nature of chemical engineering and the promise it holds for future generations.

When Chemical Engineering hosted its departmental heat of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition on February 8^th, the room was packed with audience members keen to learn more about our research-based masters and doctoral students’ exciting investigations. Eleven graduate students took turns presenting the high points of the research they have spent years conducting – using one static PowerPoint slide, language that could be understood by the general public…and within only three minutes.

Congratulations to fourth-year chemical engineering students Jack Anderson, Skylar Bone, Olsi Goxhaj and Kien Tran. Their Capstone Design team, Green Sorbs, won first prize in the Ontario Engineering Competition, which was held at the University of Ottawa in January.

PETER LEWIS SILVESTON was 86 when passed away peacefully in Charleston, S.C on Sunday, January 7th, 2018. He was surrounded by his children, Rachel, Rebecca and Matthew. Peter was born on March 10th, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, and was an only child.

Professor Emeritus Campbell William Robinson passed away on October 18, 2016. He was a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering from 1971–1996 and was part of the Biochemical Engineering research group.
