CivE Design Days

“CivE Design Days” is a two-day event where second year civil and geological engineering students worked in groups to propose a solution to a design problem which incorporates concepts from their core academic curriculum.

Beating the cold has taken on new meaning for University of Waterloo researchers who are working to help Canadian wastewater treatment plants become more environmentally sustainable.

One of the research group’s projects involves a problem at a plant in the southern Ontario community of Keswick that is subject to stringent discharge limits.

The Fred Burggraf Award was established in 1966 to stimulate and encourage young researchers to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of transportation. It provides recognition of excellence in transportation research by researchers 35 years of age or younger whose papers have been published under the sponsorship of any Division A Standing Group.

Prof. Ralph Haas has been awarded the World Conference on Pavement and Asset Management (WCPAM) Award for 2017, at the conference held recently in Italy.

He was recognized for his pioneering research and development of innovative technologies for managing road networks, his contribution in the fields of pavement engineering, and his sustained excellence in education as Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Civil Engineering department at the University of Waterloo.
