Canadian peatlands as natural climate solutions: Stewardship of our carbon storehouse

Join Dr. Maria Strack as she shares her research: Canadian peatlands as natural climate solutions: Stewardship of our carbon storehouse. She'll provide examples of actions that can help manage peatlands.

Master of Future Cities' student Konrad Borowski will present at the next SERS Salon talk to explore the critical infrastructure of pollination today, and the ways operational, ecological, and mechanical approaches are changing to protect its continuity. As climate change alters flowering seasons and exposes agriculture to floods, droughts, and extreme heat, the pollination that supports three-quarters of all food on Earth is at risk of collapse.

A careful investigation of RADAR scattering mechanisms in lake ice using PolSAR

Join PhD candidate, Jake Ferguson, as he discusses his research that explores how RADAR signals interact with ice structures and what information can be isolated from them using a new generation of space-borne instruments. Learn more about the role fresh water ice plays as a key proxy variable for broader climate change effects in cold regions, and the importance of satellite-based observation in monitoring climate and everyday operations.
