Green and social finance has grown rapidly in recent years, especially in the private sector. As economies across Asia and the Pacific work to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, how can governments nurture green and social finance to ensure that the recovery is inclusive, resilient, and sustainable?
 
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) explored these issues in a recent report forecasting the drivers and impacts of green and social finance and its prospects in the region. 

Join Dr. Wutich as she illustrates how the missing key to solving water insecurity is hidden in the social infrastructure all around us and how social infrastructure—informal economies, social networks, and cultural norms—can be leveraged to distribute water in fair and just ways.

The Faculty of Environment is inviting the entire Environment Community — students, staff, faculty, alumni and retirees to a fun and FREE social to celebrate the start of term, and foster community. Join us on Thursday, September 28 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to enjoy a drink and a meal on us from Beavertails, Café Du Monde Crêperie, Hitched Coffee and Hawaiian Shave Ice. Vegan, gluten friendly, and nut-free options will be available.

Join fellow UWaterloo alumni from the Greater Vancouver Area for a film screening and community building event featuring The Corridor, a film by environmental alliance, Age of Union. All are welcome to this educational and family-friendly event at the Science World!

Dr. Denis Aheto will discuss a holistic approach to caring for the world’s oceans, lakes and rivers. Using examples from African countries, he will explore how the global community can transform the challenges facing our oceans into opportunities for growth to bolster sustainable development and stimulate socioeconomic transformation.

On April 3, 2024, the University of Waterloo will embark on a bold new mission to create healthier, more prosperous cities with the launch of the Future Cities Institute founded by CAIVAN.
