Dr. Melissa Henderson is a researcher at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) and the University of Waterloo’s Department of Physics and Astronomy. Her research considers the scattering of neutral particles known as neutrons, and their relation to quantum materials.
In an exhilarating convergence of education and quantum information, Quantum for Educators hosted its 9th annual class from December 1 to 3, 2023. Using laser light, researchers have developed the most robust method currently known to control individual qubits made of the chemical element barium. The ability to reliably control a qubit is an important achievement for realizing future functional quantum computers.
