Three of Canada’s most recognized centres in quantum information and materials research are collaborating on five new joint research projects. The three centres are all recipients of funding from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF).

Travaillant sous la direction du professeur Michael Reimer, des chercheurs de l’Institut d’informatique quantique (IQC) ont mis au point un nouveau capteur quantique ayant recours à des nanofils semiconducteurs qui peuvent détecter rapidement et efficacement des particules individuelles de lumière sur une gamme sans précédent de longueurs d’onde allant de l’ultraviolet à l’infrarouge proche.

Un nouveau capteur quantique mis au point par des chercheurs de l’Institut d’informatique quantique de l’Université de Waterloo (IQC) montre qu’il peut surclasser les technologies existantes et promet des progrès importants dans l’imagerie 3D à longue portée et le suivi du traitement de cancers.

Christine Muschik, assistant professor at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) and the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo, was selected as a 2019 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow in Physics.

Raymond Laflamme, chercheur à l’Institut d’informatique quantique (IQC pour Institute for Quantum Computing), a reçu aujourd’hui à Rideau Hall l’Ordre du Canada des mains de Son Excellence la très honorable Julie Payette, gouverneure générale du Canada.

Today, Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) researcher Raymond Laflamme was invested into the Order of Canada by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, at Rideau Hall.

Recognized as a pioneer in quantum information research and technology, Laflamme was appointed to the Order of Canada for his significant scientific and leadership contributions to the country.

Morin is the CEO and co-founder at Auvik Networks, pronounced awe-vik, as in awesome. “It’s like having a child who does way better than you and it’s awesome,” Morin explained at the CryptoWorks21 Distinguished Lecture last fall. Researchers at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) in collaboration with researchers at the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) have developed a highly robust method for structuring light and matter waves, enhancing the powerful probing ability of neutrons.
