Teachers

Giving teachers the tools to share quantum information science and technology with students in the classroom will build and inspire the future generation of quantum-aware leaders. The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) offers several outreach opportunities for teachers and their students to get involved and learn more about the quantum world.

Students listening to a lecture in a classroom

Interested in a class trip to IQC for a quantum workshop, including a lecture about quantum information science, a tour of the Mike & Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre and hands-on science discovery activities? Submit an outreach request form.

Classroom workshops

Bring quantum to your class! Let us know if you are interested in having an IQC representative visit your classroom to deliver a quantum information science workshop, including a lecture and hands-on science discovery activities.

Professional development

IQC works in partnership with organizations such as the Ontario Association of Physics Teachers, the Canadian Association of Physicists Annual Congress Teacher's Day, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and school boards to deliver workshops about quantum mechanics for teachers. Workshops are designed to engage and excite teachers about quantum physics and it's applications, providing teachers with the tools to bring this topic back to their classrooms to share with their students.

Schrödinger's Class

Schrödinger'sClass is a new program for Canadian and international high school science and technology teachers that launched in the fall of 2015. Participants will attend lectures and engage in hands-on activities focused on the integration of quantum technology applications and concepts into the current teaching curriculum.
