International Relations Manager visits High Commission of Canada to Sri Lanka and the Maldives

Ishari Waduwara-Jayabahu and Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and the Maldives

International Relations Manager, Ishari Waduwara-Jayabahu recently visited the High Commission of Canada to Sri Lanka and the Maldives and met with the High Commissioner, David McKinnon and other officials. Discussions focused on exploring new partnerships with academic institutions and industries in the region. Sharing open resources, co-op placements with companies in Sri Lanka and creating programs to empower women, were among several topics raised during the meeting.

Waterloo Delegation meets with Canada’s High Commissioner to India

Douglas Peers, Professor of History and Ishari Waduwara-Jayabahu, International Relations Manager met with Canada's High Commissioner to India, Nadir Patel, while participating in a networking dinner in Delhi. The reception was organized by the Office of the High Commissioner, for delegations attending the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute’s VC Summit. Peers and Waduwara-Jayabahu are representing the University of Waterloo, on an outbound mission to India, aimed at strengthening academic collaborations and partnerships in that region.

An outbound delegation from the University of Waterloo, comprising Douglas Peers, Professor of History and former Dean at the Faculty of Arts, and Ishari Waduwara-Jayabahu, International Relations Manager, with responsibility for India, is in Delhi. They attended a two-day Vice Chancellor’s summit “Dynamics of Higher Education in India and Canada: Envisaging Greater Collaborations: Opportunities to Network” organized by the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, aimed at providing key opportunities to create institutional linkages.

Outgoing delegation meets with Soochow University

Both groups shared their vision on internationalization and providing global experiences and experiential learning to students, in a highly globalized world.
