Senior Library Ambassadors
We are excited to introduce the Senior Library Ambassador position to the program!
Senior Library Ambassadors will be mentoring Library Ambassadors. They will be receiving training through the Peer Educator program from the Student Success Office.
Senior Library Ambassadors will also be attending campus fairs and events, and coaching Library Ambassadors on communication, problem solving, and customer service interactions. They are also responsible for coordinating some of the Student Engagement activities. This term, they will be coordinating a portion of Goose Week (July 16-20), and the board game café (August). They will also be creating the questions and figuring out the logistics of the Student Feedback sessions happening June 5 and 7th.

Porter Poetry
Join Ariel on May 24th and June 1st to create poetry in the Dana Porter lobby. Ariel will be providing prompts to get the creative juices flowing e.g. imagine yourself as a book, what does that look/feel like? The goal of this project is to engage students in appreciating literature, books, and libraries.
Library and UW MATES: More About Mental Health!
This event will be a collaboration with UWMATES aiming to raise students' mental health awareness. During the event Library Ambassadors and UWMATES volunteers will be handing out cards with self-care tips. UWMATES volunteers will be there to answer questions from students about mental health, promote our counselling service and peer support services on campus. At the same time, promoting the "Self TALK (Telling, Ask, Listen, Keep safe)" training available for students. There will also be chocolate and buttons provided. Event happening in early June.
Pride Display
Celebrate Pride by checking out the Pride display in Dana Porter Library during the month of June. Anna is setting up a display of books written by LGBTQ+ authors, as well as books that inform people of Queer culture. The goal of this project is to promote acceptance, equality and tolerance towards LGBTQ+ people as well as educate and inform those who are unaware of Queer culture.
Colouring Table
Azharuddin (Oz) will be setting up a colouring table in the new lounge being built on the 3rd floor of Dana Porter later this summer, as well as the main floor of Davis Centre Library. The goal of this project is to facilitate a colouring environment in which students can either work collaboratively to accomplish an art piece about motivation or do smaller colouring sheets that they can keep. The goal of this event is to give students an opportunity to relax before exams.
Goose Week Buttons and Myths and Facts
Karen is continuing to work on her photography skills this coming semester by creating buttons from photos she takes of Scholar the goose for Goose Week. The buttons will be handed out to students at the Goose Week events. Karen will also be working with other Student Engagement Committee members on creating the Goose Myths and Facts game. The goal of this project is to facilitate student engagement and create captivating activities for Goose Week.
