MME alumni founded Brickeye receives $10 million in series B funding

Toronto-based construction company, Brickeye, was founded in 2014 by Waterloo MME alumni Richard Liang (BASc ’12, MASc ’14), Hamid Alemohammad (PhD ’10), Amir Azhari (PhD ’17), and Alex Fuentes (BASc ’00). 

The company just announced that it has secured $10 million in funding to continue supporting further development of its monitoring and risk mitigation platform, expand its services into more fields, and continue building its company both locally and internationally. 

This Series B financing round was led by GreenSky Ventures, Brightspark Ventures, Graphite Ventures, Export Development Canada (EDC), Beauchamp Construction, and a building materials supplier. 

The company is ever-growing and expanding, and was recently named to Deloitte's 2025 Technology Fast 50 list of Canada's fastest-growing technology companies.
