Dr. Michael Benoit is an assistant professor within the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering and is one of the 2026 honourees named in the list curated by the Financial Post.
Benoit’s research areas include high-performance and sustainable metallic materials for welding, joining, and additive manufacturing (AM). He is heavily involved in research facilities across campus, including the Centre for Advanced Materials Joining (CAMJ) and the Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing Lab (MSAM), and serves as associate director of the Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR).
An independent advisory board selects recipients and looks for leaders who have demonstrated career progression, leadership, innovation, social responsibility, and impact.
Benoit will receive the award in Toronto on October 21, 2026.
