Clarinet at Grebel

Explore the many ways that music is meaningful in today's world

With our flexible program combining theory, studio, performance and history, also investigate the "edges" of music including relationships between music and technology, film, gender, or psychology. Travel to England, Estonia or Bali to experience and study music.

Conrad Grebel University College is home to the University of Waterloo's Department of Music and offers instruction in more than 20 instruments as well as vocal lessons.

And new this fall, the orchestra@uwaterloo joined the Music Department.  It remains an ensemble open to students, staff, faculty and alumni, but now students can either participate as an extra-curricular activity or receive course credit. This 60 member ensemble also supports a concerto & aria contest biyearly.

Students at the University of Waterloo are an incredibly diverse group, with interests spanning math, health, engineering, science, environment, and arts. Many of these students have spent hundreds of hours of their life learning a musical instrument and, instead of giving up their love of music while at university, they have found a collective place to express it. The orchestra@uwaterloo is a full-sized symphony orchestra whose players are students, staff, faculty, and alumni of Waterloo.
