With our flexible program combining theory, studio, performance and history, also investigate the "edges" of music including relationships between music and technology, film, gender, or psychology. Travel to England, Estonia or Bali to experience and study music.

Conrad Grebel University College is home to the University of Waterloo's Department of Music and offers instruction in more than 20 instruments as well as vocal lessons. Clarinet at Grebel

This fall, the orchestra@uwaterloo joined the Music Department.  It remains an ensemble open to students, staff, faculty and alumni, but now students can either participate as an extra-curricular activity or receive course credit. This 60 member ensemble also supports a concerto & aria contest biyearly.

  1. Apr. 16, 2018New Grebel Professor to Focus on Early Music and Community

    Musicologist Dr. Katherine Kennedy Steiner will join Conrad Grebel University College’s faculty as Assistant Professor of Music, starting July 1, 2018. Teaching a range of courses from broad musicology surveys, to music of the Renaissance and medieval eras, to church music and worship, Steiner will engage with diverse groups of students across the University of Waterloo campus. She will also direct the College’s Chapel Choir.

    This Spring Term we will have an orchestra@uwaterloo, albeit a bit smaller than in Winter or Fall terms.  Please see our Ensemble Audition page for details.  This orchestra is open to all students, staff, faculty, and community members.  The Open Rehearsal/audition day will take place on May 10@7pm in Conrad Grebel's Great Hall.
