The Chamber Choir meets every Tuesday and Thursday in the CGUC Chapel from 4:00 to 5:30 pm beginning the first week of classes (fall and winter terms only), and is led by director Mark Vuorinen. This small ensemble of about 25 voices performs several times per term. Acceptance is by audition and at the discretion of the director.
1. Participant form
To participate in Chamber Choir you need to fill out the Participant Form every term. There is no LEARN for Ensembles, so this is a crucial step that enables us to reach you. This includes Returning Choristers. For further questions please email Angelica Allen, Ensemble Coordinator.
2. Audition
In Winter 2025, all new singers will need to audition. Anyone who sang in Chamber Choir in Fall 2024 does not need to audition. Auditions will take place on Thursday January 9 and Tuesday, January 14 in the Conrad Grebel Chapel. You will receive the audition link once you fill out the participant form. To prepare for the audition, please learn one of the following folk songs:
Down by the Sally Garden or The Ashgrove
3. Credit
Register on Quest if you are taking the Ensemble for credit. Please note that MUSIC 416 and 417 have been added to the Ensemble Course list. Also note it is your responsibility to drop the course on Quest if you do not pass the audition or choose not to participate. An Ensemble credit is 0.25 units AND you can add this on a normal course load or ask your advisor for permission to override your course limit. There is a $30 fee for students who are not taking the Ensemble for credit, while non-students will be charged a $60 fee.
