This past weekend (March 13-15) two prominent choral groups premiered works by Conrad Grebel University College faculty member Timothy Corlis. Elektra Women’s Choir in Vancouver, directed by Morna Edmundson, premiered and recorded a suite of 4 choral pieces entitled Heart Songs of the White Wampum. These are musical settings of poems written by the celebrated Canadian Poet E. Pauline Johnson. This commission was supported by a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. Acclaimed percussionist Beverly Johnston was the soloist for this commission.

Grant Us Peace

Choral Day for local high schools

On Friday, October 31, the University of Waterloo Department of Music hosted approximately 300 high school students from 8 different local high schools gathered to sing together in a Choral Day of workshops.  This is the second such workshops that ... 

The morning workshop included all students in a mass choir led by Professor, Mark Vuorinen held at the Humanities Theatre.

This mobile-friendly portal will be a gateway for the information students need, just when they need it. Students can customize the widgets that appear in their portal, so they get the most relevant information.

Chamber Choir performs in Toronto

On Sunday, October 5th the Chamber Choir had an opportunity to sing with the Cardinal Consort of Viols in Toronto, at the Church of the Redeemer.  The selection of early English music, including works by Tallis and Holborne, was enthusiastically received by the audience.

With sadness, the Conrad Grebel University College community mourns Wilbur Maustthe loss of Professor Wilbur Maust on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Bill Maust was Professor of Music at Grebel for 20 years until he retired in 1996.
