The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) announced funding for the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023-2024. Waterloo Pharmacy alum and current postdoctoral fellow at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Dr. Cindy Hoi Ting Yeung (PhD’23, Dr. Andrea Edginton’s Lab) was ranked 13 out of the 182 researchers for her work on Advancing towards model-informed precision dosing: Ontogeny and pharmacogenetics of commonly used drugs in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Janet E.A. McDougall Graduate Scholarship in Pharmacy was awarded for the first time this past June at the annual Graduate Awards Celebration.
This award celebrates the life of Janet McDougall, a proud Waterloo alum, successful entrepreneur who founded McDougall Scientific Ltd. and a passionate supporter of graduate students.

The School has recognized the excellence and achievements of our graduate students annually since 2013. Our graduate students have a positive impact on clinical pharmacy, pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics.
Since 2017, Waterloo School of Pharmacy has hosted the annual Graduate Pharmacy Research Day. This year, on May 3, the Pharmacy Graduate Student Association (PhGA) brought together faculty, alumni and graduate students for the event.
Nicholas Cheng (MSc in Pharmacy in progress) won the Winter 2023 Social Impact Fund Grand Prize for his project Entomatia, which uses food waste as feed for mealworms to extract a serum to replace fetal bovine serum (FBS).
