How to Submit Custodial Work Requests

Billable Custodial Services

Requests for custodial services that fall outside the basic service level or regular schedules are considered billable and will be charged to the requesting department.

Weekend custodial work is performed on an overtime basis. In accordance with the CUPE Local 793 Collective Agreement, all weekend overtime requires that a custodian must be scheduled for a minimum of four (4) hours.

Submitting a Billable Custodial Work Request

To request additional services, please submit a billable custodial work request and include the following information:

  • Service Location: Identify all spaces requiring service, including building name and room numbers.
  • Service Details: Describe the work requested, using our Service List for reference.
  • Event Attendance: Provide the expected number of attendees.
  • Event Date & Time: Confirm that the event date, start time, and end time are correct before submitting.

For general information on Work Requests, please refer to the work request guidance available.

Room Care & Clean-Up Responsibilities

  • Rooms booked for events should be left clean and tidy after use. Clients are responsible for:
  • Removing personal items, food, and debris from tables and surfaces
  • Returning chairs and tables to their proper position
  • Placing garbage in bins (request extra garbage bags ahead, if needed)
  • Erasing or wiping down chalkboards/blackboards after use

Please document and report any issues with the condition of the room upon arrival.

Custodial Services for Events with Food

For events serving food with more than 20 attendees, a billable custodial work request is required. A minimum of one week’s notice is recommended when submitting custodial work requests.
