Professional graduate programs - About to graduate

Intention to Graduate/Program Completion Form

All students who intend to graduate at Fall (October) convocation must submit an Intention to Graduate/Program Completion Form (.pdf) to their academic department by August 31st. We ask that students of the professional graduate programs submit their Intention to Graduate Forms to us during their last in-class course (forms will be provided by instructor).

Convocation dates/academic deadlines

Convocation dates and deadlines for completion of degree requirements (including all coursework and/or submission of theses/master's project, etc. to the GSO) can be found in the Graduate Studies Calendar - Calendar of Events and Academic Deadlines.

Intention to Graduate Forms must be submitted to the students academic department by August 31st for fall convocation.

Convocation information

Convocation information is communicated by e-mail to all graduate students where an Intention to Graduate form has been received by the Graduate Studies Office.

General convocation information about ceremonies, special seating, hood purchases, tickets, etc., is available through the convocation website.

Name changes

If the name you wish to have displayed on your diploma differs from the name currently appearing on your official academic record (as seen on QUEST), you must complete and submit a Change of Name (.pdf) form to the GSO.

Degree/Program completion

Once all of your degree requirements have been met, you must complete and submit a Intention to Graduate/Program Completion Form (.pdf) to your academic department for approval. Your department will submit this form to the GSO.

Tuition fees for upcoming terms

Submission of the Intention to Graduate form impacts tuition refunds and/or cancellation of your Finance account. The School processes your Intention to Graduate form shortly after you submit it and you will be contacted if there are any issues that might stand in the way of your graduation. The Graduate Office then processes Intention to Graduate requests in the beginning of September (for Fall convocation). Until the Graduate Office processes your graduation information, your Quest account might ask that you pay tuition fees for the upcoming Fall term. If you have submitted your Intention to Graduate form by the August 31st deadline, please ignore the tuition fees request for the upcoming term - they will disappear as soon as the Graduate Office processes your graduation request.

Diploma mailing

If you are unable to attend convocation, your diploma will be mailed to the address you have indicated on Quest. Diploma mailing takes place approximately one week following convocation.

Outstanding accounts with the University

Students must clear all outstanding accounts (parking fines, library fines, tuition balances, etc.) with the University prior to graduation. Diplomas and transcripts may be withheld for students with outstanding University accounts at the time of graduation. View your student account on Quest to view details of any withholds placed on your account.

Ordering duplicate or replacement diplomas

You may obtain duplicate copies of your diploma, or replacement diplomas, if your original diploma was lost or destroyed. Complete the Request for Duplicate/Replacement Diploma Form (.pdf) and submit it to the Graduate Studies Office.
