The Hallman Lecture Series presents John Frank, Director of the Scottish Collaboration for Public Health Research and Policy for a discussion of the notions of “upstream” and “downstream” prevention in public health practice, examples and their respective pros and cons.
Iceland began ‘upstream’ prevention initiatives in the mid 1990s and have seen massive reductions in the use of cannabis, alcohol and tobacco amongst youth. Professor Alfgeir Kristjansson of Reykjavik University discusses the key elements of their sustained success.
