Research interests
As a First Nation physician, my practice is grounded in Indigenous philosophy, with a focus on care for those experiencing HIV/AIDS, HCV and other liver diseases, for which First Nation, Inuit and Métis people bear a disproportionate burden. I co-lead Pewaseskwan (the Indigenous Wellness Research Group), a world-class health and wellness research group.
The Pewaseskwan team and I are cartographers of Ethical Space, pioneering research that privileges First Nations, Inuit and Métis ways of knowing, being and doing that improves Indigenous health and wellness outcomes. My research interests include Indigenous wellness, research philosophies, methodologies, ethics, health training and mentorship, along with Indigenous women’s health. My other research interests include heart and heart-brain health, pediatric, cancer, regenerative medicine and clinical trials.
