My thesis

My thesis will focus on how stress impacts the reproductive journey of female first responders. The purpose of my study is to analyze whether specific factors influence the decision to have children and how occupational stress affects the entire reproductive journey during pregnancy. This study is particularly focused on first responders because their occupation consistently exposes them to varying levels of stress, which can sometimes become extreme. While the general health impacts of such stress are well-documented, its effects on reproductive health have yet to be studied in depth.

My time in the School of Public Health Sciences (SPHS)

Before I fast-tracked to my PhD, I was an MSc student, and my time at SPHS has been the most nourishing experience as a grad student. I was especially welcomed into a close-knit community where I was able to get involved with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and create some wonderful memories at various events, during my classes, and while walking around the hallways of the Lyle Hallman North (LHN) building. A highlight for me was last year’s Festive Feast; it was such a warm occasion with faculty, staff, and students coming together to share a lovely evening filled with food, games, and fun!
