Become a Renison Ambassador

Renison Marketing and Recruitment (M&R) is recruiting three (3) first year and three (3) upper-year students to support starting from August 2022 to June 2023. We are planning for a hybrid approach to recruitment events and activities for Fall 2022 to Spring 2023, so you can apply for these terms even if you do not intend to be in Waterloo. Students will be expected to support in this role for approximately 12 hours per month. Support will vary depending on times when students are not in class, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends.

As a Renison Student Ambassador, you will work with other Renison Student Ambassadors to support M&R at several recruitment events and initiatives throughout the year which may include, but are not limited to, delivering campus tours, creating social media content, and assisting with recruitment events. Renison Ambassadors share their personal experiences on what it is like to live and/or study at Renison, including answering questions about the Faculty of Arts and help future students decide if Renison is a good fit for them. Ambassadors have a powerful impact on our future students, and it provides student leaders with an opportunity to leave their (moose) tracks!

As a Renison Ambassador you will…

  • Share your experience as a Renison student to prospective students and their families by:
    • Participating in virtual and/ or in- person recruitment events as program booth representatives, tour guides, and student panel members. These events include Fall Open House, March Break Open House, You@Waterloo Day, etc.
    • Provide Renison campus tours and show off your home-away-from-home
  • Assist the Marketing & Recruitment Office in recruitment initiatives, such as Warm Fuzzy writing or coffee chats
  • Participate in mandatory training at the beginning of each term
  • Have the opportunity to grow professionally by participating in voluntary committees. These committees are involved in recruitment projects that focus on areas such as global initiatives, event planning and marketing
  • Be a positive role model for prospective students and fellow Ambassadors
  • Be a part of a close-knit community by working with other highly motivated Renison Ambassadors and building meaningful friendships
  • Foster and grow your professional and personal development
  • Volunteer commitment of at least one term with availability for the large recruitment event dates (for example: Ontario Universities’ Fair, Fall Open House, March Break Open House, and You @ Waterloo Day); Due to the current situation, many of these events and activities may be happening via a virtual environment.
  • Being available to prospective students for a few hours throughout the term – connecting with them via email and other social media, providing them with short tours, allowing them to shadow you on a school day; Please be advised tours and shadowing activities will resume once campus activities are allowed. Email communication and virtual meetings/chats will take place until on-campus activities can resume.
  • Assisting with additional recruitment initiatives such as the student-to-applicant calling campaign, note-writing campaigns, Instagram takeovers, etc.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at the University of Waterloo. Preference for Renison University College academic students (including Bridge to Academic Success in English (BASE)) and/or residents
  • Friendly and helpful attitude with the willingness to take initiative
  • An understanding of the responsibility of the role you are undertaking
  • A passion for and knowledge of Renison University College!
  • Attend virtual training.
