About the Award

This award has been established in memory of Mervin G. and Sadie E. Cuthbert and in recognition of the important role that Renison University College has played in the lives of Cuthbert family members.

The Cuthbert Family International Award is open to students in a Renison undergraduate program who wish to pursue an international learning experience, (i.e., student exchange, co-op term, service learning, study abroad term, credit course). The experience, study term, or exchange must take place in a society that is culturally different from the applicant’s community or heritage.

The award will be payable on presentation of your acceptance into an applicable international learning experience as described above.


Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this award, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work program; or be a Social Development Studies student entering their second or third year, having completed 10 or 20 courses, respectively.
  2. Maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 75%.
  3. Demonstrate financial need.
  4. Be accepted into an eligible international learning experience—such as a student exchange, co-op term, service-learning placement, study abroad term, or credit course—and be able to provide proof of acceptance.
