About the Award
Renison University College values diversity and equity in our student body, and has designed this scholarship with the estate of William Laing to address historical and contemporary injustices that have created barriers to higher education for members of marginalized groups; particularly Indigenous, Black, and students of colour.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must have applied to full-time studies for Fall 2026 in the Master of Social Work program.
- Priority will be given to students from marginalized communities who have experienced barriers to accessing higher education.
- Priority will also be given to first-generation applicants (i.e., applicants whose parents or guardians have not completed a university degree).
- Consideration will be given to demonstrated financial need.
Notes for Indigenous Students
- Completion of Indigenous Verification is required. Information about this process is available through the Office of Indigenous Relations.
- Students are encouraged to begin the verification process early, as processing times may vary.
- Self-identification alone is not sufficient to be eligible for this award.
