
The School of Accounting and Finance congratulates Professor Emeritus Ken Vetzal on receiving the 2024 Chris Daykin Prize from the International Actuarial Association. This prestigious award recognizes the best paper published in The Journal of the International Actuarial Association on pensions or social security.
Co-authored with Distinguished Professor Emeritus Peter Forsyth from the Cheriton School of Computer Science and Graham Westmacott, a portfolio manager at Richardson Wealth Limited, the award-winning paper, “Optimal Performance of a Tontine Overlay Subject to Withdrawal Constraints,” looks at better ways to help retirees manage and spend their savings, with practical ideas to make their money last longer in retirement.
This honour reflects the global impact of Professor Vetzal’s interdisciplinary research at the intersection of actuarial science, finance and retirement policy. We are proud to celebrate his continued contributions to advancing knowledge and supporting real-world financial decision-making.
