The Secretariat & Office of General Counsel (SOGC) is responsible for supporting the University of Waterloo in its mission by providing guidance and professional legal support to University of Waterloo governing bodies, their committees and councils, and to senior University officers on all governance, policy and operational issues which might affect the institution.

    Logan Atkinson, University Secretary & General Counsel, was a panelist at breakfast meetings in Kitchener/London hosted by the Institute of Corporate Directors, Southwestern Ontario Branch.
    The panel focused on fiduciary responsibilities of Board members serving not-for-profit organizations.

  3. Sept. 30, 2016Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario - "Reaching out to Ontario"

    Karen Jack, Privacy Officer, and Melissa Zapletal, Information & Privacy Administrator, attended the “Reaching out to Ontario” event which took place at Western University on 27 September 2016.  Guest speaker was Information and Privacy Commissioner, Brain Beamish and the focus of the event was key developments in access to information and privacy protection in Ontario.
