The response to Code-A-Character was so positive a year ago that “we knew that we should run it again,” said outreach librarian Sally Hengeveld.
In cooperation with the University of Waterloo Stratford campus, children ages 11-18 are given an opportunity to select a character from a book and then be trained in a software program that they will use to create a digital image of that character.
The program was nominated for an award by the Ontario Library Association for its innovation.
