As she began to consider a position in the video game industry more seriously, her dream became more realistic when she discovered the role of a producer: “it felt like a light bulb had gone off and I knew what job I wanted to pursue.”
Through networking with those in the industry, Rachel become a video game producer at Codeglue in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where she meets with teams of developers, designers, and artists to ensure projects are proceeding smoothly and clients to give project updates. Rachel communicates effectively within multidisciplinary teams in her work due to the breadth of knowledge she acquired in Global Business and Digital Arts.
She notes that GBDA allowed her to pursue many of her passions within business, technology, and design.
What excited me about GBDA was that it provided a foundation for a lot of the areas I was interested in, all wrapped up into a single degree.
Notably, Rachel acknowledges how the creative group projects she completed in GBDA allowed her to understand the process of teamwork and how to work together toward a common goal in her job today. She notes that “everyone loves what they do and it’s so fulfilling to be part of a team that works hard together to create something for an industry we are all so passionate about.”
At Codeglue, Rachel continues to work on exciting projects with her teams and continues to enjoy the learning process. She encourages those interested in pursuing a career in video game development to continue seeking growth and networking opportunities.
