St. Paul’s announces new Board Chair

St. Paul’s is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Siim as the new chair of our Board of Governors. He succeeds Gary Foerster who had been in the role from 2007 to 2014. Siim’s appointment is effective immediately and runs until October of 2022.

Recent alumna of the GreenHouse social impact incubator at St. Paul’s University College, Beth Eden (BES'20) has been recognized by Corporate Knights magazine as one of 30 young leaders under 30 making a difference in sustainability issues in Canada.

On September 26, the Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre (WISC) at St. Paul’s, hosted its seventeenth annual pow wow virtually, garnering over 4,000 clicks during the live-streamed event on Facebook.

St. Paul’s University College is very proud to announce the appointment of the Right Honorable Michaëlle Jean, 27th Governor General of Canada, as Chancellor, for a three-year term starting immediately.

“We are delighted to have someone of Mme. Jean’s talent and stature take on the role of Chancellor,” said Brad Siim, incoming Board Chair. “Her interests and values align beautifully with those of our College.”

St. Paul's staff, students and faculty came together virtually and in-person today (September 30) to recognize Orange Shirt Day, a day to raise awareness and educate Canadians about the history and legacy of the Residential Schools System in the spirit of truth and reconciliation. 

A youth mental wellness project created by Enactus Waterloo, a partner of the GreenHouse social impact incubator at St. Paul’s University College, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from The Co-operators Youth Mental Wellness Grant Program.

St. Paul's GreenHouse alumna Trishala Pillai (BA’16) is fuelled by work which enables her to create, promote and sustain prosperity for all. This is why she continues to serve on the social impact incubator’s advisory council, to provide incoming students with the same valuable experience she received during her time in the Innovators in Residence community. She also recently served as a judge for UWaterloo’s Pandemic Challenge.   

A health technology startup from the GreenHouse social impact incubator at St. Paul’s University College at the University of Waterloo has been awarded a grant from the Clinton Foundation’s COVID-19 Student Action Fund.

Fall at St. Paul's

The COVID-19 pandemic has made for many changes at St. Paul’s, none larger than those impacting our academic programming and residence life this fall.

“Our role has always been to provide a memorable, rewarding, safe and supportive student experience,” said Steve Prentice, Director of Student Life. “This year will be different, but students will still be welcomed and supported within our community, the same way they always have been.”
