The Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar is an online document produced by the Office of the Registrar. It provides applicants and students with official information about the credentials and courses offered, as well as requirements and regulations, from admission to graduation.
The Office of the Registrar publishes the Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar (USAC) annually, effective September 1.
The upcoming future iteration of the USAC is published on April 2, unless the date falls during a weekend. It is published at this time of year to assist incoming students before they confirm their admissions offer to Waterloo, and in time to assist returning students with fall course selection processes that begin in May.
The most recent publication online may not be the "current" one. For example, the 2026-2027 USAC was published on April 2, 2026. During the month of April 2026 and all of spring 2026, it is the default calendar, but it is not the "current" calendar.
The next USAC, 2027-2028, will be published on: April 2, 2027.
Archives
When a new USAC is published, the previous USAC is archived. During the annual post-publication period of April to August, the current USAC can be found in the list of archived academic calendars. The list is comprehensive; it goes back to the 1963-1964 version.

When a direct link must be used, ensure the URL ends in one of the following ways, where “code” is normally a 9-10 alpha-numeric string (appears before a question mark when navigating to it):
- Course: URL end: “/catalog#/courses/code”
Example: AFM100: code = SjuWq4QY - Program or plan: URL end: “/catalog#/programs/code”
Example: Biology Minor: code = BJNr1J0Cs2 - Regulation: URL end: “/catalog#/policies/code”
Example: About Undergraduate Admissions: code = BkoG-HNVa
- Course: URL end: “/catalog#/courses/code”
- When a direct link must be used to an expand/collapse group, first open the group in a new window by selecting the box and arrow icon which appears in the upper-right corner of the expanded group's header. Then grab the URL as is - there will be no extra text at the end.
- Course example - ECON group: https://uwaterloo.ca/academic-calendar/undergraduate-studies/catalog#/courses?group=Economics%20(ECON)
- Plan example - Economics group: https://uwaterloo.ca/academic-calendar/undergraduate-studies/catalog#/programs?group=Economics
- For undergraduate studies: We recommend linking to the main URL for the Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar and letting the user search for the content using the tools available.
- For graduate studies: Users are encouraged to replace the previous Calendar links (currently redirecting) with new links, using the linking guidelines above.
