Accessing Kuali Curriculum Management

Permission access levels overview

Users will have specific levels of access in Kuali CM based on the role(s) they are assigned. Users may be assigned to more than one role in the system depending on University of Waterloo needs, and in those cases, if permissions are different, the permissions granted will be the higher level of access.

Roles include Proposer, Approver, Agenda Builder, and View Only. The permissions granted to each of these roles is detailed in the table below.

Notes:

  • Only individuals who have proposer-level access can make edits if granted editing permission during the workflow.
  • Most approvers will have access to edit at their workflow step and therefore must also be trained as proposers.

Examples of roles in use:

  • Department of Biology employee: Proposer access (to submit proposals).
  • Environment UG Office employee: Proposer (to create and edit proposals) + Approver (to review submitted proposals at various workflow steps) + Agenda Builder (to create agenda for committee meetings).
  • Committee secretary: Agenda Builder (to create agenda for committee meetings).
  • Committee member: View only (to view committee agendas and/or proposals).

Requesting access

Requests for access may only be submitted to the Office of the Registrar or Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs by designated faculty/affiliated institution representatives. See Contacts for list of representatives or, if applicable, reach out to the applicable governance committee's secretary.

Bulk requests

When a request for the same type of access is required for more than five (5) individuals, we recommend completing the access roles spreadsheet template (XLSX) and uploading it to the access request form as a bulk upload.
