Effective dates charts are produced by the Office of the Registrar and take into consideration the following:
- The publishing cycle of undergraduate recruitment materials.
- The publishing timeline for the Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar.
- Senate and related council meeting dates.
Important information for undergraduate studies:
- All proposals must be for the upcoming publication of the academic calendar; submissions for a future-dated cycle must be held until that cycle opens up in the system.
- As of October 7, 2024, the Fall 2026 effective date is available in the system, but it is should be used with caution because it is is before the 2025-2026 academic calendar is published:
-
Once a Fall 2026 record is created (and approved), should a Fall 2025 change be needed (e.g., editorial/fix), it will be more difficult to request because the Fall 2026 will exist. We can still make changes to a Fall 2025 record if it already exists, but creating one if it does not (for example if you went from 2024 to 2026), would be nearly impossible.
-
Recommendation: Fall 2026 records should be created only if they are brand new, they are being retired, or a Fall 2025 record base already exists and it's really urgent to get it started. Use caution with all other scenarios until after March 2025 when the vast majority of the Calendar work would be complete.

- As of October 7, 2024, the Fall 2026 effective date is available in the system, but it is should be used with caution because it is is before the 2025-2026 academic calendar is published:
- All proposals must have a fall term effective date; the academic calendar is published annually and courses and plans are often linked.
- Other terms are visible because Kuali Curriculum Management is shared for use with graduate studies, which publishes their academic calendar termly.
- All proposals must have a future-dated effective date, as outlined in the applicable effective dates chart.
- Any retro-active requests must be made to the Office of the Registrar prior to submission. If a retro-active request is approved, a determination must be made if it will be reflected in past academic calendars or not. Contact the Office of the Registrar before proceeding.
Editing submission deadline
The editorial submission deadline for the 2024-2025 Undergraduate Studies Academic Calendar has now passed. Further submissions will be considered as an amendment post-publication or for the 2025-2026 publication.
Reminder: All editorial path submissions in Kuali CM will first be reviewed by faculty/institution contacts.
