Effective dates chart (2026-2027)

The chart below provides the earliest effective date associated with each Senate Undergraduate Council (SUC) meeting.

Notes

1. Effective date: Dates listed above are the earliest effective dates possible for any given proposal.
   • Fall 2027: Became available in Kuali in August 2025.
   • Fall 2028: Becomes available in Kulai in August 2026 [users must be aware of proposals still being created/in workflow, or which records may need to be created before fall 2027 publication].
2. Last meeting: It is recommended that faculties distribute their curriculum proposals througout the set of SUC meetings; best practice is to submit proposals by the second-to-last meeting; the final meeting (Feb 2027 SUC) should be reserved for delayed proposals, proposals requiring follow ups or are a result of changes being made at earlier meetings.
3. One Calendar at a time: Proposals wanting to use a later effective date (e.g., course changes for Fall 2028 or Fall 2029), must wait until the appropriate set of meetings for that academic calendar. Exception: Creating/renaming/retiring entry programs requires a later date (1 year ahead) to meet marketing deadlines; the desire is not to have those proposals come to the last meeting for the academic calendar (e.g., February SUC) due to the expected volume. They can come before of the following meeting (last opportunity).
4. Urgent changes: If an earlier effective date is desired, make a request to the Office of the Registrar, with an appropriate rationale, to ensure feasibility and logistics.
5. Exceptions for courses: Effective date exceptions can be made to allow changes to become effective in January (winter term) or May (spring term). Make a request to the Office of the Registrar, with an appropriate rationale, to ensure feasibility and to understand the impact on other processes. Edits for the current or past terms will not be considered.
6. Pausing entry programs: If a direct-entry program (major or diploma) needs to have admission paused, no governance approval is required. However, if the entry program appears in marketing materials or applicants can select it in OUAC, the deadline for doing the work related to the pause should match the New/Rename/Retire entry program column due to content in marketing materials. The absolute last chance to update the information in OUAC is August of the year preceding the admission entry (13 months earlier than the effective date).
