Undergraduate-specific processes

The undergraduate-specific processes section of this website is a resource for employees navigating the approval process for modifications to undergraduate academic programming at the University of Waterloo, including changes to courses, programs, academic regulations, and scholarships/awards.

This approval process involves distinct decision-making bodies at the University, which may need different information in order to make good decisions. The goal of these pages is to help those submitting changes for approval to provide the right information to the right decision-makers, so that these decisions can be made intelligently and efficiently.

In addition to this more practical "how to" advice, this site provides some information about the bodies involved in the approval processes and the factors they consider when making decisions, in hopes that this will make clearer why certain information is requested on the proposal forms. The governance page has more detailed information about the important members of the approving bodies and their respective roles.

All staff and faculty members should contact their faculty representatives to learn more about the faculty-level approval processes that need to occur before items are submitted to Senate Undergraduate Council (SUC).
