The 3 BMath undergraduate programs offered by the Department of Applied Mathematics (1. Applied Math; 2. Applied Math with Scientific Computing; 3. Math Phys) will see some substantial changes from Fall 2025.
See below for the new course requirements beginning in Fall 2025:
- 1. Applied Math
- 2. AM-SciML: Applied Math with Scientific Computing & Scientific Machine Learning
- 3. Mathematical Physics
- Climate and Sustainability Specialization in the Applied Math program
Some major highlights of the changes include:
- several new courses on (scientific) machine learning and data-driven mathematical modelling
- PHYS 121 is no longer required for the Applied Math program
- streamlining of all 3 programs with fewer required courses and more choice (double majors also will be easier)
- refocus of the scientific computing program with new emphasis on (scientific) machine learning: we now call it the AM-SciML program
- new specialization in the Applied Math program: Climate and Sustainability Specialization
For any questions about these revised programs or about declaring any of these 3 majors please contact the Applied Mathematics Advisor.
