Title
Optimal Transport theory and applications to astrophysics
Abstract
Optimal Transport theory is a beautiful branch of mathematics which has found many applications in diverse branch of science in recent years. In this talk I shall give a brief introduction to the theory and show how it naturally related to equations of fluids and arises in astrophysics. I shall demonstrate that optimal transport theory can be used to reconstruct the past history of our Universe and retrieve information about the primordial Universe. I shall talk about recent fast numerical schemes, based on optimal transport theory, to apply to and run large-scale numerical N-body simulations with hundreds of millions of particles.
