Abstract
Internal waves play an important role in the oceans and atmosphere. Like the more famous surface waves observed from a beach, internal waves can also become unstable and break. In this talk I will describe an important instability mechanism known as resonant wave interactions. Some examples and applications will be presented. No knowledge of fluid mechanics will be assumed.
