Applied Math alum Sam Hirniak wins 2024 Milt Weinstein Award

Sam Hirniak, a PhD student at the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy, was awarded the 2024 Milt Weinstein Award for Outstanding Presentation in Applied Health Economics at the  Society of Medical Decision Making (SMDM) Annual Meeting. As an undergraduate student in the UW Faculty of Math (BMath’17), Sam was a member of the International Genetically Engineered Machine Team (iGEM), co-advised by Applied Math professor Brian Ingalls. Sam credits Dr. Ingalls for inspiring her to study mathematics and pursue research opportunities in mathematical modelling. Read the full story on the School of Pharmacy website.
