Graduate students receive 2023 departmental awards

The Department of Applied Mathematics recognized excellence in graduate students with eight Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards and a Doctoral Award, which will be presented on 14 July 2023.

The recipients of the 2022-2023 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards are:

  • Maliha Ahmed
  • Marina Chugunova
  • Martin Diaz Robles
  • Brittany Howell
  • Nat Kendal-Freedman
  • Alexandra Kirillova
  • Sierra Legare
  • Ruikun Zhou

These awards are given, upon nomination by course instructors, to a TA who has done outstanding work carrying out their TA duties.

The recipient of the 2022-2023 Applied Mathematics Doctoral Award is Keegan Kirk. This award is given to a graduating PhD student who was nominated for either the Governor General’s Gold Medal or Alumni Gold Medal competition, to recognize outstanding scholastic achievements. Dr. Kirk’s PhD thesis is titled “Numerical analysis of space-time hybridized discontinuous Galerkin methods for incompressible flows.”
