Two Applied Math Graduate students win NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowships

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Applied Math PhD graduates Wilten Nicola and Colin Phipps have been awarded prestigious NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowships.

In his PhD research Wilten carried out mathematical and computational bifurcation analysis of large scale neural network models with application to understanding the generation of rhythms in the brain.  In January he started a postdoctoral fellowship with Claudia Clopath in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London.

Colin’s PhD work focussed on mathematical models for cancer cell metabolism and cancer treatment combinations. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Pharmacy working on the development of physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models.
