Seminar 1: Introduction to 3D printing technology and its different applications in the biomedical field

Please note: this is part of a seminar series. Seminar 2 and Seminar 3 will follow on December 14th and January 18th respectively.

Abstract

3D printing is a fabrication technique in which sequential layers are typically added on top of each other to form a wide range of geometric shapes. Recent advancements in the field of 3D printing have prompted scientists to experiment with and evaluate the technology's applicability in the medical field, including the pharmaceutical industry, tissue engineering, organ printing, the development of customized implants, prostheses, and many more. This seminar introduces 3D printing technology and its various techniques, including laser printing, extrusion printing, and inkjet printing, as well as the advancements of 3D printing in health; its benefits and limitations.
