Dr. John Straube

P. Eng., Associate Professor

John Straube is an Associate Professor joint-appointed to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo. He is also the Principal at RDH Building Science Inc., where he leads forensic investigations, hygrothermal measurement and analysis research projects, and design projects in the areas of low energy building design, highly durable building enclosures, new building materials and systems, and extreme climate buildings.

Mark Merlau

Senior Technologist - Environmental Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of undergraduate teaching laboratories focusing primarily on Environmental Engineering and Water Quality.
  • Provide analytical and general chemistry services for the department and instruct students on the proper use of lab equipment.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Water Resources group and the management of lab facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide technical support for graduate students and researchers in the design, trials, and modifications of experimental setups.
