Employed: Interview process

You secured employment via the Full-Cycle Service job board.

You’re eligible for a standard work term credit.

Employed: Posted job

You secured employment via the Employer-Student Direct job board.

You're eligible for a standard work term credit.

Employed: Arranged own job -student sourced

You secured employment outside the WaterlooWorks co-op job boards. Your work term is with an employer who hasn't previously hired from Waterloo and CEE approved it.

You're eligible for a standard work term credit.

Employed: Arranged own job - jointly sourced with Co-operative and Experiential Education (CEE)

You secured employment outside the WaterlooWorks co-op job boards. Your work term is with an employer with an existing relationship to CEE and it was approved.

You're eligible for a standard work term credit.

Employed: Returning to a previous employer

You're returning to a previous employer and CEE approved it.

You're eligible for a standard work term credit.

Employed: Flexible work term

You secured employment that meets flexible work term criteria and CEE approved it.

You're eligible for a flexible work term credit.

Employed: Work-integrated learning experience

You chose to pursue a Waterloo Experience (WE) Accelerate work term.

You're eligible for a flexible work term credit.

Employed: Awaiting decision

CEE applies this interim status if you were employed and left the work term early, you were terminated or if you failed to complete  mandatory requirements for an international work term.

At the end of the term, CEE reviews all EA statuses to determine your co-op credit eligibility. If you haven't submitted a petition through Policy 70, we will assign one of the following statuses:

• Failed (F) - for leaving the work term
• Unemployed: student not in process (US) - for international work term requirements

Unemployed: Interview process

This is the default status when you're searching for co-op employment.

You may search and apply for jobs on all the WaterlooWorks job boards.

Unemployed: Awaiting decision

You indicated that you:

• Are in the final stages of securing employment external to the Full-Cycle Service job board
• Are awaiting record updates within WaterlooWorks
• Have submitted an Arrange Own Job form or Return to Previous Employer form in WaterlooWorks and it's under review.

You're not permitted to continue your job search and will no longer have access to the Full-Cycle Service  job board.

Unemployed: On own student leave

You informed CEE that you won’t be seeking co-op employment for the work term.

If your plans change, discuss it with your Co-op Advisor to see if it’s possible to change your status to UI.

You're not permitted to continue your job search and will no longer have access to the Full-Cycle Service job board.

Unemployed: Opting for full-time course load

Through consultation and approval by your Academic Advisor, you're forfeiting a work term within your sequence to enroll in a full-time course load instead of your scheduled work term. You're not seeking co-op employment for the work term.

You're not permitted to continue your job search and will no longer have access to the Full-Cycle Service job board. You cannot take a PD course, however if you don’t have sufficient work terms remaining, please contact your Academic Advisor.

You will have one less work term than originally scheduled within your academic sequence.

Unemployed: Not engaged in employment process

You haven’t been fully engaged in the co-op process.

Reasons for this status may include NOT:

• Declaring your job search intentions within WaterlooWorks
• Responding to multiple Co-operative Education or employer inquiries
• Applying to any jobs in WaterlooWorks by the first day of final exams

If you would like to engage in the process, discuss a status change to UI with your Co-op Advisor.

You're not permitted to search for and apply to jobs on the Full-Cycle Service job board.

Unemployed: Student not in process

You've received a consequence for not complying with a program regulation or procedure.

You're not permitted to search for and apply to jobs on the Full-Cycle Service  job board and must arrange your own job.

Unemployed: On exchange while recruiting

You're on an exchange term at an educational institution outside of Canada during the term before your scheduled work term.

We will change your status to UI once you apply to jobs on the Full-Cycle Service  job board.

If you're returning to a previous employer or arranging your own job, please contact your Co-op Advisor and we will update your status.

Unemployed: Lost (forfeited) credit opportunity

You reneged on an accepted job offer for the first time.

You may not move a UL term via sequence change.

You're not eligible to receive co-op credit for the work term.

You may need to meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss your ability to meet your faculty/program requirements.

You're not permitted to continue your job search and will no longer have access to the Full-Cycle Service job board.

Unemployed: University-imposed

We assign this status on behalf of your faculty if you haven’t met the requirements of the co-op employment process and/or the work term, committed a second or subsequent renege, or you’re being reprimanded for a non-academic offence as defined by Policy 71.

You may not move a UU term via sequence change.

You're not eligible to receive co-op credit for the work term.

The COOP course is assigned a grade of NCR on your academic record.

You may need to discuss your ability to meet your faculty/program requirements with your Academic Advisor.

You're not permitted to continue your job search and will no longer have access to the Full-Cycle Service  job board.

Failed work term

You didn’t meet the requirements for the work term.

Reasons for this status may include:

• Leaving a work term early
• Termination
• Unacceptable or unethical behaviour during a work term based on an investigation conducted by CEE in consultation with your faculty

You're not eligible to receive credit for the work term.

The COOP course is assigned a grade of NCR on your academic record.

You may need to meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss your ability to meet your faculty/program requirements.
