Recent research from Australia has shown that a team’s ability to synchronize and converge emotionally (i.e. emotional contagion) had an impact on employee well-being. Grande, et al. (2025), noted that teams with high levels of positive emotional contagion had better employee well-being outcomes despite also having high levels of work-place stress.
In contrast, high levels of negative emotional contagion seem to amplify the impacts of workplace stress resulting in even lower levels of employee well-being.
It appears that having a supportive and encouraging team can help mitigate workplace stressors.
