Wellness Programming and Support
In addition to creating the Faculty of Engineering Wellness Framework and Model of Change, implementation of the Annual FoE Wellness Surveys, and featuring wellness in the 2020-2024 strategic plan, the FoE offers a variety of ongoing programming to support employees and students.
Online Resources
The Community Wellness Team maintains a numerous online resources to support both employees and students.
- Students can access these resources though the FoE Wellness Program Website and Self-directed Learn site (authenticated sign-in required for Learn).
- Employees can access these resources through the FoE Employee Wellness Hub.
Workshops & Sessions
Every term the FoE offers variety of wellness sessions for employees and students. Examples of past sessions are the following:

Wellness and Community Events
Every term the FoE offers variety of events to support and enhance the wellbeing of our community. Examples of past events are:
- Engineering Day: Held annually in June, Engineering Day is a social event filled with amazing snacks, events, lawn games such as, dunk your prof, and purple everything!
- National Indigenous People’s Day: Takes place on the summer solstice (June 21st) every year.
- Employee Appreciations & Awards: Various events are held throughout the year to support employees
- Apple Day: Sept 16th is international apple day. We provide apples for the entire Engineering Community.
- Waterloo Ready: Summer-long orientation to support incoming Engineering students.
- Department-Specific Events: Each department or program holds a variety of events for their students.
Consultation, Wellness Informed Approaches, and Referrals
The Community Wellness Team can provide consultation and support to academic units and faculty on wellness-related concerns. This might include: creating department student wellness ambassadors/staff roles, using wellness-informed approaches in teaching, embedding wellness content into curriculum, information on supporting students and co-workers in distress, accessing Employee & Family Assistance Programs (EFAP) and other University provided services and more. Individual Support and Limited Coaching for Students
Department Program Advisors and Wellness Coordinators provide wellness support within their scope of practice. For more complex needs, department Advisors and Wellness Coordinators will facilitate a referral to the appropriate on-campus service, or direct students to public health options.
