Do regular breaks really reduce fatigue and increase productivity?
A systematic review and meta-analysis by researchers at the West University of Timișoara, Timișoara, Romania suggests they can.
Recovery from tasks with low cognitive demands can be achieved with microbreaks (10 mins or less). However, tasks requiring higher cognitive demands need longer recovery times. This is something to keep in mind with the high cognitive demands of academic work.
